Sometimes the smallest things can turn a great morning into a not so great day. Maybe you got to work and the first email you read was one that hit a nerve. (Been there!) Or maybe your day got off to a rough start because you spilled coffee on your shirt as you drove to work. (Done that!) Do you agree? These seem like little things, but enough of those little things can add up and make you want a do over. If this is you, I have some good news! You won’t need a do over if you just change your focus.

God never promises that all of our days will go exactly how we would like with no bumps in the road. We’re going to have tough days. The thing is, when we hit one of those bumps, we can focus on God’s word and find the calm in the middle of our frustration.

Here are 5 verses you can turn to if you’re feeling frustrated…

***Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28

Jesus offers rest from our troubles if we come to him. The reason for your weariness doesn’t matter to him. There is no problem too big or too small for Jesus to care and offer help to make it through. (I love wall art with scripture!)

***Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — Philippians 4:6

Talk to God and let him know what is troubling you. Be specific. Once you have made your request known through prayer, then don’t worry about it anymore. Worry about nothing…pray about everything! Thank God for working on it for your benefit.

***God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble. — Psalm 46:1

God is our source of strength and our protector. He doesn’t promise to remove us from the trials, but in times of trouble, we can trust that God is ultimately in control and he will protect those who follow him.

***So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. — Isaiah 41:10

When you are facing uncertainty, do not be afraid. God wants us to know that he will always be with us and give us the strength we need to face our challenges. He will give us the strength we need right when we need it.

***I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. — John 16:33

God knows what you are going through. He wants you to know that if you follow him and trust him, he will give you the courage you need to handle life’s troubles. Believe this…God is in control and has already overcome the things of this world!

  1. I’ve used every verse and yes, they do work. Let go of the issue, don’t try to “fix it” on your own, let God take over and He will direct you in the way you should go. Thanks Darla, a good reminder.
